Programmes

The following are the programmes available at Rivers State College of Nursing Sciences, Port Harcourt for now:

1. ND Nursing (General Nursing): Admission is through JAMB processes and thereafter, aptitude test & interview. Resumption for 2025/2026 session is between September to November 2025 and duration is 2years after which Candidates continue the HND Nursing programme for another 2years. Total making 4years programme. (NOTE: The ND programme is chained to HND programme for Candidates to automatically continue Midwifery programme as well).
2. Refresher course for eliminated Candidates by Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria: This is a special programme for those who were eliminated by Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria after 3 attempts in the final qualifying examination. Duration of course is one (1) year only. Admission process is by advertisement through sale of forms from December of current year through February of the new year. This is followed by selection interview. Resumption of such Candidates for lectures is first Monday in April of the new year. Requirements include: “O” results credit pass in English language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics & Chemistry, Testimonial from Candidate’s secondary school, Birth certificate or age declaration sworn in court, Attestation letter from Candidate’s former nursing training school stating that he/she was eliminated by N&MCN. Such letter should also reflect the past 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd N&MCN examination numbers with month and year of the examination.
